Quirky Culture and Free Entry At Whitechapel Gallery!

Quirky Culture and Free Entry At Whitechapel Gallery!

Less than a minute walk from Aldgate East station and with a rather unassuming front, you’ll find the Whitechapel Gallery. Their exhibitions are always changing and often feature bits on local culture, art and history, in addition to foreign contributions.

Naturally, the best part is entry is totally free! If you’re interested in modern art or something a bit out of the box, definitely don’t miss this one. The staff on-hand is absolutely lovely and eager to answer any questions or tell you a bit more about the art. If you’ve got a few spare minutes or need a quick reprise from the hustle and bustle of Brick Lane, why not pop in and have a look around? The gallery is quite small and intimate, so you can easily enjoy the whole space within an hour or so.

There’s also a wonderful cafe, the Whitechapel Refectory on-site, where you can snag a coffee and small bite for under £5! Grab a seat by the window with a friend or book and enjoy your coffee, as the city rushes by you. Keep in mind — their menu is always changing, so you can expect something new nearly every time.

“After Hours” starts at 6PM, Thursday- Saturday, where you can enjoy a selection of their wine and craft beer list, alongside tapas-style hot dishes and charcuterie boards.

Don’t forget to stop by their bookstore on your way out, too! You can nab one of their beautiful catalogues, posters, art books or other quirky merchandise, as a small token of your visit.
