How to Never Fall Into A Content Rut Again

You might call it a content “rut” or a content “roadblock” but it’s pretty easy to fall into, especially when you’re churning out new content every week or even every day.

How do you keep things fresh? How do you keep your audience interested without repeating yourself?

There are two things to keep in mind: what search engines want and what your consumers want.

Search engines want fresh content — it boosts your ranking and drives new traffic. Your audience also wants fresh content because they don’t want to be bored — you gotta give them value.

Here’s how to keep both sides happy.

Incorporate other forms of content into your strategy, including videos, infographics, live webinars, giveaways (everyone loves a freebie) or podcasts.

Search related forums relevant to your industry. Read questions and posts from people and customers in your industry. What’s everyone talking about?

Look at competitor sites. What content is working and what isn’t? It’s fine to take inspiration but NEVER copy.

Consider setting up Google Alerts so you don’t have to sift through the whole internet! Set filters based on the content you’re interested in and get them sent directly to your inbox. Here’s how to set it up.

Just ask! Create a Facebook poll, send out an email or ask your customers directly — what do you want to see more of?

How do you keep your content fresh? What has been your biggest roadblock?

We hope these tips have helped! Share yours in comments.
