Best Outdoor Activities In Hackney

One of the best things about summertime in London is the wide range of outdoor activities, even within the city limits. In Hackney, you don’t have to wander far off the grid to enjoy what the great outdoors has to offer — check it out:

Springfield Park

Admittedly, Springfield Park is not well-connected to the Tube, but that kind of adds to its charm. It’s so unknown to most (including London locals), that it feels like a secret getaway, and it basically is with its dreamy ponds and willow trees. The northeast side of the park wraps along the canals, where you can stroll around and check out the boats. Pretty neat and definitely a chilled way to spend an afternoon.

Oh, and did we mention they also have giant outdoor chess boards? Yep.

Hackney City Farm

Hackney City Farm is for everyone who hates the zoo, but loves animals. The farm animals at Hackney City Farm are quite unique, as they live double lives — part of their time is spent in the city, while the majority is spent enjoying life in Kent on a working farm. In other words, they’re not show just animals — they get to live and breathe country air, as real animals should!

In any case, when you visit you can see pigs, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, sheep, guinea pigs and plenty more. You can even buy some local produce and products, such as vegetables or honey during your visit.

A pretty amazing way to spend your day and do something a bit different, all while in the city!
