Carve the perfect Pumpkin

Carve the perfect Pumpkin

There is no Halloween without scary pumpkins to brighten your night. Here are tips to help you create the best carved pumpkins ever!

What do you need?

Many of you might be new to pumpkin carving but it is a very easy and fun activity. The first thing to do is obviously, get a pumpkin. Not just any regular pumpkin but the best and the biggest to give you more space to create awesome designs. You can buy one at any regular supermarket such as; Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Lidl etc. Or if you really want to go for it, go to a pumpkin farm and pick your own. Supermarkets usually sell a set of tools with some small knifes for precise work to really get that detail, but a kitchen knife would do as well.

The Basis

Get your tools ready and start carving! Firstly, you got to make a hole at the top of the pumpkin. After you have created this ‘lid’ for the pumpkin you need to get rid of all that is inside the pumpkin.  This is a bit of a messy job, but it’s always a fun way to mess around with your friends. The inside of the pumpkin can be also be used to create amazing pumpkin pies and soups so don’t just let it go to waste.

The Carving

After the entire pumpkin has been emptied just grab your tool and search for your inner Bernini. However, it might be wise to draw the outlines of your creation first just in case you’re a first time pumpkin carver. At this point you can do anything you like, just let your creativity do the work and have a blast with your friends. There are many different pumpkin designs possible. You have, of course, the traditional scary smiling pumpkin, but if you feeling despicable you can even carve a minion, it is all up to you. Nevertheless, if it is your first time carving a pumpkin you might want to go for a simpler design for your first scare.

After you have finalised your masterpiece, pop a candle inside, turn off the lights and admire your own amazing carved creation. Hopefully these tips were helpful, and you are now able to make your very own pumpkin.
