Discover vibrant East London

Discover vibrant East London

By now, you probably realise that we provide student accommodation in some of London’s hotspots such as The Stay Club in Camden Town and The Collective Old Oak in West London.

However, one place we have not shown you yet is our location in the bustling area of Aldgate East, The Curve.

With so much to do in the area, we decided to share a few tips; where to go, what to do and give an idea about the nightlife in Aldgate.

Situated close to Aldgate East tube station, all sorts of activities are close to home. For example, take a trip to the iconic Old Spitalfields Market that has been around for the last 350 years!

Spitalfields has recently been transformed into a modern-day market with some of London’s best ‘street’ food on offer but still retains its authentic charm surrounded by grade II historic listed buildings.

You can continue your walk around Brick Lane to find some vintage treasures and discover the street art around the Shoreditch area.

A short tube ride or brisk walk south will see you arrive at the beautiful and historic Tower of London. The Tower itself dates back to 1066, originally being founded as part of the Norman conquest of England. One of the UK’s most visited cultural hotspots, it is a must see for anyone staying or visiting London, if for no other reason than to cast your eyes upon the famous ‘Traitors Gate’ on the water’s edge.

The area around Aldgate East has some lovely places to eat as well, with plenty of excellent Asian, Indian, European and American restaurants in the area so you can truly experience the diversity of London.

If you’d love to find out more about the historic serial killer Jack the Ripper, notorious for his murders in the 1800s in the Whitechapel area, there are organised tourist visits. If culture is more your thing then visit the trendy Whitechapel Gallery and see different contemporary art exhibitions and film screenings all year round.

There is a great selection of pubs and nightlife in the local area, but if you want to keep in the authentic spirit of London then there is a traditional Tudor style pub close to Spitalfields with a lovely historical ambience.
