London Is A Treasure Trove

London Is A Treasure Trove

London is a treasure trove of hidden wonders. Seriously, around every corner, nook and cranny, there’s something new waiting to be discovered.

Here’s the lowdown of four “hidden” London gems, next time you’re up for something a bit different:

BFI Drawing Room

The Drawing Room at the British Film Institute (BFI) Southbank is quite literally hidden in plain sight. In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to even find info about it on the BFI site. Once you enter the main doors of the theatre, head towards the back of the building (past the Benugo Bar & Kitchen), through a rather inconspicuous little door,  till you arrive in a dimly-lit, cozy bar/lounge — think leather armchairs, ceiling high bookshelves, smooth jazz vibes.  As a reward to yourself for finding this gem, grab a drink and settle in for a bit.

Old Street Station

Obviously, it’s a tube station, but really it has a lot to offer. Under the hustle bustle of East London’s Old Street roundabout is a continuous rotation of eclectic, trendy pop-ups. At any given time you can find clothing labels, fitness studios, organic juicers, natural foodies, artists and more, showcasing their goods. Pop-ups rotate every couple weeks, so there’s always something new to check out. The station does have a couple permanent fixtures, as well, including The Magic Roundabout, an open air hangout smack dab in the middle of Old Street.

Devonshire square

The best way to get to Devonshire Square is by exiting Liverpool Street Station onto Bishopsgate. From there, cross the street onto Devonshire Row and keep walking straight until you wind up in the square. At Devonshire Square there’s a couple restaurants, bars and a natural food store, but the best part is the outdoor seating, ping pong and air hockey tables. It’s a super chill place to kick it outside with your friends, play some games and grab a bite. They even run a few events each month, including food festivals, food markets and wine tastings.
